The Natural History Museum at KU revamped the Science Buzz kiosk, implementing a simpler and user-friendly interface.

Science Buzz is part of the CReSIS K through 12 Educational Outreach Program, funded by a National Science Foundation grant. The kiosk was launched in spring 2012 and is located on the third floor of the museum by the bee exhibit.

Cheri Hamilton, educational outreach coordinator, said before the update visitors were not reading all of the educational content provided. Now, the concise format is easy to navigate, encouraging interactive learning.

According to an earlier publication, the main goal of the educational program is to highlight CReSIS and provide visitors with direct access to the Center’s K-12 educational materials.

The kiosk provides visitors glacier imaging as well as animated games for children, which is available both on site and online.

To visit, go to 1345 Jayhawk Boulevard in Lawrence, Kan. For more information please contact Cheri Hamilton, CReSIS K-12 Educational Outreach Coordinator chamilton@cresis.ku.edu
